Where Does Your Help Come From?

I lift my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

An excerpt from Come Away My Beloved  by Frances J. Roberts

“Always turn to Him before you look to any other source for assistance.”

We all face difficulties in our lives, when you do, where do you turn for help?  Frances Roberts answers this question so clearly – we should turn to Him!  When we find ourselves in a difficult situation, whether we feel overwhelmed, ill-equipped or frustrated, there is only one source of true help – the Lord.  Our natural instinct may be to panic and seek help from other people.  Wouldn’t it be great if at first, we sought help from the One who could give us peace and who is ultimately in control of our situation?  We tend to turn to the Lord and seek His help when we are desperate and out of other options.  God wants us to be so close to Him that our natural instinct is to turn to Him before turning to our friends and family or relying on our own strength.  What are you facing right now that you need His help?  Take a few minutes and turn to Him, cry out to your Heavenly Father for His help and see what He does!  Your situations may not change, but the peace you will experience in the midst of them will change the way you handle it.  May today be the day that you seek His help.

the cross is a great way to lookat the relationships we have with God and others. I know, even though I try a lot God is the one in control of it all. He has it all workednout and sharing it with me a bit at a time cause the whole picture would scare me to death.

May God bless youn through this day and through his word.

    • Janet, God knows we can’t handle knowing everything and we are so lucky that He shares it with us in small pieces because it helps us not miss out on what He is doing.

I’m delighted to be introduced to this blog and certainly this particular post at this time. It is just right for what I am going through in my life right now and it is wonderful to be reminded (yet again!) that my help comes from the Lord. Thank you for His Word today. I will check back regularly. Deanna.

  3. Deanna, I am glad this blog is speaking to you. We all need to be reminded that He is the ultimate source of our help and comfort and we need to rest in His sovereignty.

  4. This is ever so true and amazing as to how The very PEACE OF GOD can immediately surround us in the very worst of storms!!! May HE continue to bless you and your ministry!

    • You are so right! Thankfully our loving Father can bless us with His peace in the midst of our darkest hours.
