Today’s Scripture will uplift you, give you hope and make you want to praise the Lord as we see how we are the recipients of His amazing love, mercy and grace.
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
These verses start of with “but” because it is tying into what Paul said in the previous verses about us being dead in our sins. After the “but” comes the best part – we have been made alive in Christ. This is not because of anything we have done or because we deserve it. It is simply because our Heavenly Father loves us, has mercy for us and has lavished us with His grace in the form of His Son Jesus. If that’s not enough to make you want take time to praise HIm today, I don’t know what is!
In the previous post, “Sin and Spiritual Health”, I asked you to take some time to allow the Lord to reveal your sins to you and then to seek His forgiveness and turn from them. It may have been a challenge for some and may have made some feel guilt and shame. However, the Lord brings conviction not to make us feel shame but to help us desire change and become more like Christ. It is because He loves us so much and He knows how much our sin hurts us and separates us from Him. He, in His mercy, sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross so we could receive forgiveness for our sins. It is by His grace we have been saved from our slavery to sin and spiritual death.
When have you experienced His incomparable love? When was the last time you were the recipient of His mercy? What does His grace in saving you from your sin and spiritual death mean to you? God has shown us His love, mercy and grace not just for our benefit but for the benefit of others. Who does the Lord want you to show His love to today? Who is hurting in your life that could use His mercy? Who do you need to lavish with the grace He has given you? We are blessed with these from the Father so we can bless others with them and they can see Christ in us. Bless someone with His love, mercy and grace today!
