A Work of Art

Image

Today we will be looking at how we were created so wonderfully and are created with a purpose.

Ephesians 2:10

10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I love this verse. It reminds us that we are “God’s handiwork” which could be translated “work of art”. You and I are God’s work of art. You may not feel like that when you look in the mirror, but it is exactly what God sees when He looks at you.

When I think of a work of art, it reminds me of when my daughters were younger and would come home from preschool or elementary school with something they had made and couldn’t wait to display it on the refrigerator. They were so proud of whatever it was they had made and wanted to put it in a place of prominence where others could see it. How great is it to know that is they way your Heavenly Father feels about you?

We were “created in Christ Jesus”, we are new creations when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. As His creations, we were created to do “good works” and to live the lives God created us to live. Our salvation is not dependent upon our good works but as an outflowing of love and joy for our salvation, we want to do the things we were created to do.

How do you view yourself? Do you view yourself as God’s work of art? What does it mean to you that God has a plan for your life? What are some of the good works you feel God created you to do? Are you following His plan for your life or your own?

  1. I view myself as rooted and grounded in love, truly led by the Spirit and doing my Heavenly Father’s business by helping those He leads me too! Yes, Ma’am, I am following his plan for my life. He is my life! Thanks, great post! God bless you! 😀

My mirror proves to me the Jesus is into surreal abstract art as well. 😀

See how the Holy Spirit equips us for our purpose, take a peek at Exodus 35:30-35 and 1 Cor 12. Each of us has a specific purpose and missing that is what sin essentialy is. Therefore, to be sons of God we need to follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit. This brings Matt 7;21-23 into more clarity.

Being a disciple is so much more than believing and attending church. It is getting educated according to our gifts so that we can build His community, also known as His temple.

Have fun laying bricks, painting walls and installing Power today!

    • Pieter, we are all works of art in progress and are blessed to have the Lord involved in our lives and showing us the way. Thanks for the uplifting comments.

I always say that God made me to prove that He can forgive even the worst but also that He is a cartoonist with a sense of humour! 😀

      • We are so blessed to be forgiven by Him and He definitely has a wonderful sense of humor. Blessings!
