Reading the Bible

The Bible is the most published book of all times, but is it the most often read? How many people have a Bible or multiple Bibles that have never been opened? Even Christians don’t often read the Bible.

Think back over the past year at what you have spent your time reading. Have you spent more time reading about the Bible than reading the Bible? Have you spent more time reading emails or FB posts than reading the Word of God?

Unlike any other book we read, something unique happens when we read the inspired Word of God. God shows up. His Holy Spirit reveals His truths to us and helps us learn how to apply His Word to our daily lives. The Bible is the story of God’s redemption and is a beautiful reminder that we need redemption. It is a reminder that He is God and we are not.

We all have routines each day, why not add reading God’s Word to your routine? I can’t think of anything more powerful to do each day; reading His Word and hearing from the Lord.

  1. love this.- I posted it on Facebook… for those who are reading posts instead of the Word.

    • Julie, thanks! Hope it is a great reminder for all of us to read His Word and to think about how much we read other things instead.

  2. Reblogged this on Where Did You Find God Today? and commented:
Where can you find God today? Read between the lines- He is there.

  3. Wise words! Thank you 🙂

Definitely needed this t today. Thank you for that reminder. God is so good.

  5. The Bible is the living Word of God. Everything I read it He reveals new insights. Only God can do that!

    • Julie, amen! God’s revelations come to us from His Word which is one of the reasons why we need to open it and read it for ourselves. Blessings!
