Who is Lord of your Life?

Ephesians 3:8-13

Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. 13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

Paul was charged with making the mystery made known. Remember the mystery was discussed back in verse 6 and refers to God providing an opportunity for salvation for the Gentiles through Christ. Paul says this was “accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord”. I think it is easy for us to accept Jesus as our Savior. We graciously accept the salvation He offers. We are thrilled to be called children of God and are so grateful He provided forgiveness for our sins.

However, I am not sure we all graciously accept Him as the Lord of our life. Jesus is referred to as Christ, Jesus Christ, God’s Son and our Lord. Seeing Him as our Lord requires more from us than seeing Him as our Savior. Allowing Jesus to be the Lord of our lives requires us to lay down our plans, desires and agendas and a willingness to pick up His. It requires us being patient and waiting on Him to reveal His plans for our lives. Do you accept Jesus as the Lord of your life? Do you submit to His plans for your life? Are you willing to wait on Him?

As we approach the weekend, take some time to really examine the lordship of your life. Are there areas where you have submitted your life to Jesus? Are there other areas you are trying to control and withhold from Jesus? Ask the Lord to reveal areas of your life that need to be submitted to Him and then follow through with obedience and submit to Him.

Where Does Your Help Come From?

I lift my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

An excerpt from Come Away My Beloved  by Frances J. Roberts

“Always turn to Him before you look to any other source for assistance.”

We all face difficulties in our lives, when you do, where do you turn for help?  Frances Roberts answers this question so clearly – we should turn to Him!  When we find ourselves in a difficult situation, whether we feel overwhelmed, ill-equipped or frustrated, there is only one source of true help – the Lord.  Our natural instinct may be to panic and seek help from other people.  Wouldn’t it be great if at first, we sought help from the One who could give us peace and who is ultimately in control of our situation?  We tend to turn to the Lord and seek His help when we are desperate and out of other options.  God wants us to be so close to Him that our natural instinct is to turn to Him before turning to our friends and family or relying on our own strength.  What are you facing right now that you need His help?  Take a few minutes and turn to Him, cry out to your Heavenly Father for His help and see what He does!  Your situations may not change, but the peace you will experience in the midst of them will change the way you handle it.  May today be the day that you seek His help.
