Surrender to the Lord
All we are
All we have
Never part, always all
Not a laying down, but a placing in
Not getting rid of, but handing over
Into His capable hands
Stop fighting
Don’t hold on so tight
Open your clenched hand
Relinquish control
To the One who loves you
He knows what’s best
He has a plan
Step out of your comfort zone
And into His
very well done- reminds me of the lyrics of one my favorite songs by Tenth Avenue North- don’t fight the Hands that are holding you. May you nestle in His grasp today, and always.
Julie, thanks for your encouraging words. Surrender is so hard but so necessary. Blessings!
This is beautiful!
Cherylann, thanks so much for your kind words. Surrendering to the Lord is something I have been really working on and these words just came flowing out. Blessings!
Great reminder to let go and let God.
Thank you for sharing this. I am going to use this for my daily Lenten prayer. Surrender is difficult for me, I’m still working on it. I still can’t sing “I Surrender All” in church.
Jovella, I am humbled you will be using my poem as your Lemten prayer. I love that song too. It is much easier to sing or say the words than actually do it. Be blessed!
I noticed another blogger mentioned ” I surrender All….” I read you poem twice and that hymn was the sound track! Beautifully written. I am leading our Discipleship School through Lent with a contemplative devotional by Bill O Bryne, and the repetitive themes are surrender, and the crucified life. Thank you for your encouraging words today. May God open your mouth wide, that He may fill it with good things! Blessings to you. http://www.scribentus.wordpress.com
Christina, the concept of surrender is something that continues to come up for me as well. It is something we struggle with but once we surrender whatever it is we are clinging to, we are able to experience His peace. Be blessed.
I agree! I have come to believe that true disciples walk with a limp of surrender from the midnight wrestling matches. But, he changes our name, and that is worth the match! 🙂 Thank you again for your beautiful words. http://www.scribentus.wordpress.com
I love this poem, I need to remember it EVERY single day 🙂
Daniella, thanks so much for your kind words. Surrender is something we all struggle with but all must do. Be blessed!
